The Panhandle Citizen Corps Network is a regional movement that actively involves citizens from all walks of life in making communities across the Nebraska Panhandle safer, stronger and better prepared for disasters, natural or man-made.
Citizen Corps members are specially trained for the purpose of enhancing a community's ability to recognize, respond to and recover from a catastrophic event or disaster.
By using Citizen Corps volunteers to support local emergency responders, we make our community safer, less vulnerable and better prepared to respond to disasters, threats of terrorism, public health issues and crime.
The network is a collaborative project comprised of both public health departments serving the Nebraska panhandle, the Rural Nebraska Healthcare Network, local Emergency Management Agencies and local Citizen Corps Council representatives. The aforementioned groups have played an integral role in the development of the regional network.
The regional network serves the local councils through completing administrative tasks, organizing regional trainings, marketing and grantsmanship duties. They have standardized processes for policies and procedures, forms and data collection tools.
